Folding Structures
Rocks are under different stresses due to plate movements, so they respond these stresses by bending or breaking. Bended earth-layers are called folds, and sedimentary rocks are much easier to bend it. Faulting and folding do occur together, the downfold is a syncline while the upfold is an anticline. From the class jasper field trip, our group picture background demonstrates a giant syncline. But soon enough, the syncline structure may fill in with new sediments.
