Earthquakes
In a fault the crustal rock is involving with displacements on one side, but respecting the rock on the other side. During an earthquake, the stress of increasing rock deformation has slowly built up and release with a sudden energy. The origin is the center or focus, while the point above the focus on the Earth’s surface is the epicenter. By using a seismograph, it measures the magnitude which is the amount of shaking of the ground as the quake passes. In the Maligne Canyon, there are many faults formed by earthquakes and mainly rock displacement.
